COSMIC Epoch 1 was released December 11th, 2025. Point releases include new features and bug fixes. On Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS, updates are rolling and released as they pass Quality Assurance review. Other distributions tend to release tagged releases.

• Rounded corners! All window corners (not just COSMIC Apps) can now be rounded or squared to match the Appearance Style option in Settings. Shadows are also added to windows and you can choose to round corners and apply shadows for tiling mode separately: New Settings > Desktop > Appearance > Window shadow and corners
• Fix some apps jumping at the start of a drag
• Fix crash when swapping a group of windows
• Fix crash when moving a minimized window to another workspace in the overview
• Improve cursor size consistency with scaled Xwayland apps

• New setting for type to select the first matching file or folder
• Added ability to enter network paths in the breadcrumb bar
• “~” (tilde) now references in the user's home folder when typed into the breadcrumb bar

COSMIC Initial Setup

• Change the title from “Welcome” to “Accessibility setup” to more accurately reflect the settings on the page
• Activate screen reader by default. Users that require the screen reader won’t need to know or look up the shortcut to activate the screen reader.
• Reorganize settings on the page to address user testing that revealed users would pass the first page without disabling the screen reader. The setting is now first and more prominent.
• Added keyboard shortcut descriptions to screen reader and magnifier options
